Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.
The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Claims Shared on Social Media
The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues
Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
