Tributes Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the pair.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt prepared to express about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally express my sorrow into words," posted Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I desired in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the film, adding that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the perfect person to direct it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I think of you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Fellow Artist
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with everyone, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the local authorities.
A legal directive put a embargo on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" connected to the probe.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the result of foul play, with a record citing the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
After the tragedy, public individuals offered varying responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing divisive remarks that were broadly criticized by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the detractors last week. Talking on his program, Rogan described the statements as "disappointing" and implied they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan ended by proposing that an associate ought to have acted when the decision to speak on the passing was made.
