Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Tragic Road Accident

The British boxer Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on December 29th, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community shared sympathy for the champion in the aftermath of the terrible crash.
